D\u00fcsseldorf, 14. Oktober 2025 <\/strong>\u2013 Toshiba Electronics Europe gibt bekannt, dass die Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (\u201eToshiba\u201c) als erstes Unternehmen in der Storage-Branche[1]<\/sup> erfolgreich Festplatten mit einem Plattenstapel ausgestattet hat, der aus zw\u00f6lf Disks besteht. Geplant ist, 2027 eine 40-TB-Klasse[2]<\/sup> von 3,5-Zoll-HDDs[3]<\/sup> f\u00fcr Rechenzentren auf den Markt zu bringen, die die neue Stacking-Technologie mit der MAMR-Aufzeichnungstechnologie (Microwave-Assisted Magnetic Recording) kombiniert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das 12-Disk-Stacking basiert auf fortschrittlichen Design- und Analysetechnologien, die Toshiba entwickelt hat, um d\u00fcnnere und kompaktere Produkte zu konstruieren. Es erweitert das 3,5-Zoll-Standarddesign von Nearline-HDDs mit zehn Magnetscheiben um zwei zus\u00e4tzliche Disks. Zu den wichtigsten Neuerungen z\u00e4hlen die Entwicklung neuer Spezialbauteile f\u00fcr den Disk-Stapel und das Ersetzen des Aluminiumsubstrats als Material f\u00fcr die Scheiben durch ein neues Glassubstrat, das robuster ist und d\u00fcnnere Designs erm\u00f6glicht. Beides sorgt f\u00fcr eine verbesserte mechanische Stabilit\u00e4t und weniger Schwankungen in der Rotationsebene sowie h\u00f6here Datendichte und gr\u00f6\u00dfere Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit.

Die zunehmende Nutzung von Cloud-Diensten, die steigende Popularit\u00e4t von Video-Streaming und ein rasantes Wachstum bei KI und Data Science tragen weiterhin zu einer explosionsartigen Datengenerierung bei. Toshiba hat den Bedarf an h\u00f6heren Speicherkapazit\u00e4ten erkannt und untersucht daher auch den Einsatz des 12-Disk-Stacking in Verbindung mit der Aufzeichnungstechnologie der n\u00e4chsten Generation, HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording). Ziel ist es, HDD-L\u00f6sungen mit h\u00f6heren Kapazit\u00e4ten zu entwickeln, die mit dem stetig wachsenden Storage-Bedarf von Rechenzentren Schritt halten und die Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) senken.
